What a summer it
has been. Whew! I took some time off in August and had a
vacation in Ontario, Canada…and then came back home and finished
cleaning up Katrina debris. I am really glad to be busy
again…singing that is!
State convention
is coming up. If you are able to attend, please join us in
Philadelphia, MS Oct 19 thru 21 for the 2006 Ms State Quartet
Convention. We are looking for another wonderful time this year.
We will be having the Homecoming Sing-a-long this year with a
live band. Randy Miller will be appearing as well as Ricky
Atkinson & Compassion. You don’t want to miss it! If you need
tickets, please let me know. Also, if you are not on the MSQCA
mailing list, I encourage you to sign up. You will be kept up to
speed on the latest events, awards nominations, and concerts.
The new CD is
done at long last. “Back to Where it Started” is now available
at the website or by calling or emailing me.
Diane is still building our email list, so
if you would like to be added to the JDub Club email list,
please let her know at
office@jwcministries.com.
If I have not taken the time to thank you in person somewhere
along the way, let me take this opportunity to say “Thank you,
from the bottom of my heart”. I appreciate everyone who listens
to the CD’s, turns out for the concerts, and lets me know what
you think. You might not know it, but often just a small note or
call, or kind word can pick my spirits up ten-fold. Not long ago
in Lufkin, I was at a concert at the Civic Center, singing and
emceeing and helping Pete keep things running smoothly. I was
pretty stretched out that weekend and had tons of things riding
on my shoulders, and weighing on my mind. A lady called me off
to the side and told me how much my music meant to her, and she
thanked me for serving God in this ministry. That small moment
in time made everything worth it and she encouraged me and
brightened my day.
Again thank you all so much for the comments, prayers,
encouragement, and support. Well, that wraps it up for this
edition. Thanks for reading and being a part…
God Bless
You! ~JW

This month I
wanted to feature a ministry that is a major part of my life…my
home church, First Assembly of God; Richton, MS. We are Pastored
by Rev. Scott Morris and Sister Kim; they are joined by
daughters Regan and Rylee. First Assembly offers something for
everyone in our diverse Sunday School classes and Sunday evening
departmental services. No excuse is ever made for old fashioned
preaching at First Assembly, and the Spirit of God is always
allowed full control. First Assembly strives to be an ark of
safety and help in this uncertain world that we live in. The
first time I walked in the door seeking a home church, I knew I
was welcome and loved; and I felt the overwhelming presence of
God. If you are in our area, please come have church with us!

Scriptural Reflections
Samson was a man who took grace for granted. After Delilah cut his
hair, he awoke and shook himself as times before, but he did not
realize the Spirit of God was gone from him. Samson’s final
redemption came only after much suffering. We often place
ourselves in the same peril when we expect God to be standing
ready to forgive and forget as often as we fail. While this is
true, it puts us on dangerous territory when we “intentionally”
fall with the expectation of grace and mercy awaiting us. In the 6th
chapter of Romans, Paul asked “Shall we continue in sin that
grace may abound?” He then answered by saying “God forbid”. Let us
strive to live holy and acceptable lives before the Lord and to
never take grace for granted. God bless you!
