What must I do to be saved?
To realize the need to be saved, you must first realize that you are lost. The Bible tells us in Romans 3:23 that “all have sinned and come short of the glory of God”. We are all sinners. It makes no difference who you are or what you have done. The difference between Heaven and hell is not whether you sin or not…it is whether you are forgiven or not. It is whether you have made Christ the Lord of your life and are trusting in Him and walking with Him daily…or not.
You may be thinking, “I am a good person. I help the poor. I am nice to people.” My friend if you don’t know Jesus Christ, you are not saved and hell awaits you beyond the grave. I know that sounds tough and mean…it is not…it is reality. It doesn’t matter how “good” you are. The Bible tells us in Isaiah 64:6 that OUR righteousness is as “filthy rags”. You cannot work your way into Heaven. Salvation is by faith. Read Ephesians 2: 8-9.
Jesus Christ died a criminal’s execution on an old wooden cross for you and for me. All He asks of us is to come to Him, ask for forgiveness of our sins. He will forgive them. The Bible promises us that if we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us, and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. This is found in 1 John 1:9. After you are saved and Christ reigns as Lord of your life, you will realize a whole new world has opened up. You will realize a desire to share this message with others. You will feel a burden for those who reject it. You will know that you know that a better home awaits you beyond the grave. You will have hope for the future in an unstable world. Best of all you will know that when that great trumpet sounds and the Rapture of the church takes place, that you will be caught away with Christ and not left behind on this wicked planet. Read 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17.
There are so many more verses of Scripture that I could insert in this page, but I am trying to keep it simple. The salvation plan of Jesus Christ is really simplistic in nature. It is so simple that many people don’t believe it. Romans 6:23 tells us that the wages of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. This boggles the mind…people will “work” themselves into hell when they could go to Heaven for free. Jesus already paid that price, with His blood. One more verse of Scripture is needed here:
Romans 10:9 says "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved."
| "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life." John 3:16 |
As I said, let’s keep this simple. Let’s break it down into the ABC’s
“A”: Admit you are a sinner
“B”: Believe that Jesus died for you
“C”: Confess Jesus as your Lord and Savior
In your own words, pray to God. Admit that you are a sinner and that you know the only way into Heaven is through Christ. Ask Him to forgive you of your sins and live in your heart and be your Lord and Savior. Ask Him to lead and guide you daily as you seek His will through reading His word and through worshipping with other believers. Thank Him for His mercy and His grace. Thank Him for the very air you breathe. Most of all, thank him for saving your soul from hell. Thank Him for Jesus Christ.
If you have prayed this prayer from your heart and with all the honesty and reverence you can muster, I believe you have been saved. Study God’s word. Seek a place of worship with other believers. Ask God’s guidance in your daily life, personal, and business decisions. Stand steadfast on what you believe and in WHOM you believe.
Contact us here at this ministry with the good news, for prayer requests, or just to let us know you are now a part of the kingdom! Thank you and may God richly bless you and those you come in contact with.
